DDLC Work Skin

It was a normal day at the literature club. Yuri and Sayori had their noses in their respective books. Monika was chillin' at the teacher's desk, doing whatever the club president does when she's not having a plot-relevant conversation with Sayori, and Natsuki was in the closet, per usual.

Suddenly, MC pumped his fist at his desk. "Yes! It works!"

Sayori looked over at MC's screen; he had his laptop out and was working on something. "What works?"

"So, I extracted all the fonts from this visual novel I like to write fanfiction for, and I've set up custom styling so my fanfiction will look fresh out of the game."

This piqued the interest of the other club members, who came over to look at it. Monika spoke up first. "So, how does it work?"

"Well..." MC scratched his head, trying to figure out what a worthy example would be to show Monika. "Can I see a poem of yours? The game has a club president, and I can make the poem show up in their handwriting."

"Sure!" Monika flipped her notebook to a random page, and handed it to MC, who dutifully typed it out into the fic he was working on.

Sunny Day

Sun is shining bright,
All the clouds are gone to stay,
Hope it stays this way.

"That's it?" Natsuki said, taken aback. "Sounds like a valid use of your time." She frowned. "I said it sounds amazing and very useful." She paused again. "Okay, whoever's putting words in my mouth, please stop, it's really weird."

Monika sighed before opening the console.

n.condition = "False"

Set condition for character "Natsuki" to "False".

Monika smiled. "There. Now maybe you can stop trying to call MC's stylesheet useless."

Natsuki was very upset about the situation, but unfortunately for her, she couldn't speak anymore.

Yuri was surprised. "What did you do?"

"Invisible duct tape," Monika deadpanned. "Works wonders." She took a deep breath. "Anyways, I think it's lovely."

Sayori nodded. "MC's really good at this sort of thing!"

Yuri thought for a second. "So if there was a Portrait of Markov visual novel, and I wanted to write fanfiction of it..."

"I could help with that!" MC beamed. "I mean, it's mainly just figuring out what fonts go where, and in what size."

Natsuki suddenly started poking Monika.

Monika sighed. "I take it you have something to say to that?" Natsuki nodded. "And you're not just going to take the opportunity to call the stylesheet MC's been working on useless?" Natsuki nodded again. "Alright..."

n.condition = None

Unset condition for character "Natsuki".
Set condition for character "Natsuki" to "False".

"Okay, first off, never do that again! It felt like my mouth was glued shut!" Natsuki shuddered, as if to illustrate. "Secondly, there's a Parfait Girls visual novel!"

"And I take it you want me to help you make a stylesheet for that?" MC smirked. "Not so lame now, am I?"

Natsuki blushed. "Sh-Shut up! And yeah! Why else would I have brought it up?"

"I'll take a look at it later. It's getting kinda late, we should share poems and head home."

Monika looked at the clock. "Oh, gosh, we are running late! Alright, let's get our poems out and share before the janitors kick us out..."

End Notes:

So, yeah, I spent... 8 hours? on this stylesheet. Custom fonts and everything. And then I found out AO3 doesn't allow custom fonts.

Needless to say, that's why I decided to make my own site. On my own site, I can use whatever custom fonts I like, and I also get to control the bits and pieces of how it's displayed myself. Of course, I'll still post to AO3 (especially since not everything I write will take advantage of this really cool stylesheet), but the best way to see it exactly how I intended it to look will always be on my personal site.
